The Shikanoyu-so has the highest alkaline hot springs (ph 10) in Hokkaido. Because of the strong alkaline hot spring water, it makes your skin feel slippery and smooth. Kind of like soapy water. The Shikanoyu-so is a little hard to find. It’s around 6 km through a forestry road from Hokkaido Road 718 (北海道道718号). Drive carefully because the narrow road is rough also bears and deer may cross the road. Unfortunately, there is no restaurant, cafe, souvenir shop or convenience store in this area. You phone may not work in this area either due to weak signals.

Osuushi means “a river with falls” in Ainu.
