大平貴之氏の個人開発によって生み出された次世代型プラネタリウムシステムです。スターホールでは、MEGASTARを道内初導入。
従来のプラネタリウムが６～７等星までの恒星約６千～３万個を再現するにとどまっていたのに対し、このMEGASTAR-IIBは、５００万個もの星を投影することができます。人間の視力では見分けられない小さな星の一粒一粒までも忠実に再現し、奥行と広がりのある本物さながらの美しい星空を映し出します。
