This museum shows the history and nature of Esashi Town also its neighboring areas. In particular, numerous exhibits here feature artifacts and other archaeological finds of cultures from the Yayoi period to Kamakura period. The cultures are Epi-Jomon culture, Satsumon culture and Okhotsk culture, which prospered in the areas surrounding the Sea of Okhotsk.
Okhotsk Museum Esashi opened in Esashi, Hokkaido, Japan in 1999. Their collection includes important cultural property artefacts excavated from the Menashidomari Site, Hokkaido.
