1. Preparation
We confirmed that wheelchair seating was available at the theater, and that parking was available at the Sapporo Factory, and that moviegoers could use the parking lot for three hours free of charge.
2. Going to the Cinema
I entered the parking lot 1 from Kita 1jo Street and asked an attendant for a handicapped space and was directed to the basement. I followed the directions and another attendant helped me remove the cones from the parking lot elevator.
3. In the Cinema Room
When I purchased my ticket, I was asked if I wanted to watch the movie in a wheelchair or move to the seats provided. When I told them I wanted to watch the movie in a wheelchair, they closed the counter and led me to the movie projection room. There was a 50cm high, 8% slope ramp on the approach to the viewing area of Screen No. 2. Two young female staff members Two young female staff members removed the two fixed seats in about 30 seconds.
4. Facilities
Screen No. 2 is on the 2nd floor, but there is a wheelchair-accessible restroom on the 4th floor, and a staff member guided me to it via a commercial elevator. There is a wheelchair-accessible restroom near the cinema in the Factory, so it is easy to enter the theater after using the restroom. There is a store and coffee counter by the ticket booth that can be used by wheelchairs.
5. Access by Public Transportation
The nearest subway station is Bus Center-mae Station on the Tozai Line.
6. Comments
The wheelchair-accessible seats were completely general seats until they were removed, and this time there was an open general seat next to them, so I moved from my wheelchair to watch the movie. The remaining wheelchair seats are next to the general seats, so there is no need to worry about being separated from your wheelchair-bound companion. The only disappointment is that the seats are so close to the screen that you can only choose diagonal seats.
