Bikkuri Donkey Susukino (Bikkuri Donki) has a milk-, egg-, and wheat-free Hamburg steak (similar to Salisbury steak). It comes with a salad, rice, egg-free mayonnaise, and gluten-free dressing. Before the food arrived, the waitress put out a special placemat to make clear who would be having the allergen-free meal. I ordered the regular size allergen free Hamburg steak. The only difference between the regular and small size is the amount of rice served with the burger. The burger was really tasty and served with a clear, meaty sauce, as opposed to the thicker brown sauce the regular burgers come with. Service was pretty fast for a busy night.

How did BIKKURI DONKEY get its name?

Bikkuri Donkey means “Surprised Donkey”. It’s a strange name, isn’t it? It’s a strange name, but once you hear it, you will never forget it, is what the owner thought.
This name was given by Akio Shoji, the founder of BIKKURI DONKEY, who loves to make people smile and feel excited. Although donkeys are not described as “cool” or “smart,” their eyes are filled with kindness, and they are always willing to work hard no matter what. “I want them to grow up strong, even if they are sluggish.” This feeling led to the name “Donkey” appearing in the store’s name.
