Sapporo Autumn Fes - Odori Park
The Sapporo Autumn Fest is one of Hokkaido’s largest food festival. It spans roughly one kilometer across central Odori Park (blocks 4–8, 10, and 11-chome). Over 300 stalls showcase the region's top culinary highlights daily from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM (last order at 8:00 PM). Admission to the park is free, with food and beverages sold individually at each stall.
Food Zones by Blocks/Chome
Each block of Odori Park features a completely different culinary theme, allowing you to sample everything from coastal seafood to regional ramen:
- 4-chome (SAPPORO Welcome Park): The festival entryway featuring local information booths, standard crowd favorites, and seasonal refreshments.
- 5-chome (Ramen & Hokkaido Eats): Dedicated heavily to regional ramen varieties from across Japan and unique noodle creations.
- 6-chome (Harvest & Café): Cozy outdoor dining focusing on soup curry, local street food staples, and artisan sweets paired with coffee.
- 7-chome (7-chome Bar): The go-to spot for drink pairings, highlighting Hokkaido craft beers, local whiskey, sake, and regional wines.
- 8-chome (Hokkaido Market): The ultimate crowd favorite. Municipalities from all over Hokkaido set up rotating stalls to offer fresh seafood like grilled scallops, king crab, and local agricultural specialties.
- 10-chome (Meat & Grill): Packed with dynamic grills serving Tokachi beef, Hokkaido venison, wild game, and savory barbecue.
- 11-chome (Chef’s Kitchen & International): Offers rotating menus prepared by top local chefs alongside international cuisine.
💡 Quick Tips for Visitors
- Payment: While some stalls accept IC transit cards or mobile pay, many vendors still require cash. It's best to carry Japanese Yen coins and small bills.
- Crowd Control: The festival gets incredibly busy during weekend evenings and standard lunch hours. Visiting during a weekday mid-afternoon (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM) offers the shortest wait times.
- Weather: The festival operates rain or shine. Seating areas are generally covered with large tents and umbrellas to keep diners dry if early autumn showers hit.
