Open: The outlook is always open but the terrace shop is open from 8:30am to 5pm.

Closed: Only the terrace shop is closed for the New Year’s holiday.

Charge: Free parking – November 1st to April 30th. Paid parking: May 1st to October 31st – Motorcycles 200 yen / Passenger cars 500 yen / Microbuses 1,000 yen / Large buses 2,000 yen *The fee allow you to use the Lake Mashu First Observatory and Io-zan parking lots once each (valid for 2 days, consumption tax included).

Observatory 1, offers a panoramic view of Lake Mashu, re-opened in 2022 as Mashu Kamuy Terrace. The observation space is covered in glass to better highlight the beauty of the lake and has special sofas with the angle adjusted to enjoy the starry night sky. The view spreading before your eyes from the terrace of the deep blue hue of Lake Mashu, Mount Kamui, and Kamuishu Island in the middle of the lake is breathtaking. You can also get a light meal at the cafe in the terrace building. It has Mashu coffee made from locally grown soybeans and soft-serve ice cream made from fresh milk.
