The Sapporo Lilac Festival, started in 1959. It is to celebrate the blooming lilacs and is a cultural event. There are about 400 lilac trees around the park. In 1960, the lilac was designated as Sapporo's official tree. The festival is held in Odori Park and Kawashimo Park. There are tours, a lilac music festival, a wine garden and stamp rally. There will also be a corner where you can try out traditional games, origami, calligraphy and more! This is an event that children can also enjoy.
